Our EDI Statement
At FHCG, a non-profit charitable organization rooted in a residential neighborhood, we are committed to cultivating an environment where every neighbor feels welcome, valued, and empowered to participate. It is our hope that mutual respect for each other will perpetuate respect for the land we are privileged to occupy.
We believe access to fresh food, green space, and community connection should not depend on race, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, faith, income level, housing status, or background. We acknowledge that access to land and healthy food has not historically been equitable, and we are committed to being part of the solution within our local community.
As a neighborhood-based nonprofit, we strive to:
Provide fair and transparent access to garden plots, programs, and volunteer opportunities
Foster a respectful and safe environment for all members and visitors
Reduce financial and physical barriers to participation whenever possible
Honor and celebrate diverse cultural traditions, languages, and growing practices within the limits of our agreement with other entities
Continually learn, listen, and improve our policies and practices
We recognize that diversity strengthens our garden and deepens our sense of community. By nurturing equity and inclusion alongside our plants, we cultivate belonging, mutual respect, and shared stewardship of the land we care for together.
